Keep an eye out for Wooly Bear caterpillars this time of year. They are the caterpillar of the Isabella Tiger Moth. Many are encountered crossing roads while they are travelling to find an overwintering site. This is usually inside of logs, in thick brush piles, or under bark. They hibernate there for the winter. Then, they transform into an adult Isabella Tiger Moth the next spring/early-summer.
